Our Small Animal Section has Expanded! 9/21/2011
We've expanded our small animal section (which includes food for ferrets, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, gerbils and rabbits) to include hay. HAVE A RABBIT? Did you know that rabbits are herbivores that need a high fiber diet. In addition to commercial rabbit pellets, rabbits should also have fresh timothy hay, alfalfa or orchard hay (all of which we now carry) in unlimited quantities at all times. Rabbits also enjoy chewing on apple, orange, lemon or willow tree branches and these help keep their (open rooted: continuously growing) teeth properly worn down.

Treats to Keep Your Dog Busy
Here's a picture of Millie, sunning herself in this great weather we've been enjoying. Come in and see her (and the beautiful Siamese Willow) and check out our wall of Kong, including Frisbees, floating toys, and squeaker balls.
Here's a tip for the classic Kong: for most dogs to stay interested you really have to put something in them. To make the filling last a little longer you can stuff the Kong and freeze it over night. Good fillers include beef broth with a few small treats (you can tape the smaller end so it won't spill out), ground up peanuts, or a small amount of active culture, non-sweetened, non-fat organic yogurt. Lots of customers ask if this will make their carpet or floors dirty- but dogs tend to enjoy these treats so much that they lick up every drop!
As a note, remember to not overfeed your dog and account for his treats when you feed him meals. For more food dispensing toys and the best advice on how to use them, stop by the store soon.
